I'm a big fan of fish and chips and have found myself having an even deeper craving for them, since trying to meal prep and make all of my meals for myself throughout the week, as of late. Luckily, I let myself indulge at Cape Cod Fish N' Chips and was glad to have waited til then to let myself pig out on some fried food a bit.

First off, the space is bigger than you might expect for a fried fish joint. Not huge, but a bar, five-six tables in the front, an an equally bigger back area that I wouldn't have expected to exist when looking at the place from the entrance.

Food might look expensive from the perspective of thinking it's "just fried food," but the portions are also larger than you'd expect. My girlfriend and I each got entrees and ended up with leftovers, even while picking off of each other's plates, in the process. It's a great value for the price, in my opinion, and pints of craft beer can't be beaten in the area, at just $4.

Onto the food: I ordered the sample, which came with a piece of fried cod, two fried prawns, two fried oysters, and fries. I opted for garlic fries for the extra $1. The cod and prawns were about what you would expect, I would say, though on the larger side. The real MVP for me was the oyster. Huge portion, and very likely the best fried oyster I'd ever had. A surprising amount of meat in there! Fries were served jojo style, with an ample amount of garlic on top. If I had a gripe, it's that the garlic wasn't evenly distributed, but as I didn't even finish it all, that was a quick fix when reheating my leftovers.

My girlfriend's fish taco seemed expensive (I think $7.99), but what she ended up getting was something along the lines of a monster fish taco/quesadilla amalgam. Two larger soft tacos tortillas make up the base, with cheese melted in between in two quesadilla fashion. Loads of shredded fish and veggies are piled on, all topped with a house made pico. It's a meal in its own, and a great alternative to your traditional small, fried fish tacos (though those are great, too).

I will not be back frequently, as I should watch out for the fried foods, but it's only because I'm watching what I eat. If Cape Cod figured out a way to make fried foods low carb and low fat, I'd be here regular. Hell, maybe I wouldn't ever leave!

Easily, EASILY, the very best fish and chips I've ever had, hands down, anywhere. I've been patronizing this establishment for at least 25 years and can't believe I've never reviewed it. I've been dining here since they were located next to Oliver's Market on E. Cotati. I'm sure ownership has changed more than once but the product has not. The batter is really crunchy and flavorful. The fish is always fresh tasting, the portions are huge, the price point makes them a great value. It's absolutely crave able.  I really don't care for fried food but when I want it, this is the place.  I did notice on this last recent visit that the coleslaw recipe did change a bit. It's not so sweet. It was really good.

I just don't think you will find better, not in Bodega, Santa Rosa, shoot even London orAlaska, anywhere, and I've tried over the years.

Dine in, take out, this is THE place for fish N chips.

Something changed with the fish!!!! This is the 4th or 5th time I visited looking forward to tasty fish and chips. It was piping hot and crispy. Everything looked very fresh. The fish thickness had changed. Some else said something of very little fish encased in batter. Indeed, this appears to be true. I was not tasting much fish until I took a closer look. I would say if I put the top and bottom layer of batter together that it would be just about equal the thickness of the fish. Before, the thickness of the fish was nearly double the thickness of the layers of batter. It was a hefty block of fish with not too much batter.

I'm no fool. This has turned into a rip.

The batter is beautifully crispy, but I did not come here for batter and chips with fish waved over it. I was more than willing to make a 30 mile trip for what was a great place until someone in the back decided to skimp on the fish. Finishing up I was planning in my head about finding a new place to have lunch with a friend - not returning to Batter'n Chips(with a hint of fish). Not very good quality fish anymore. Too bad.

Excellent and unique fish and chips. The cod was very firm and cooked to perfection. The batter was light and delicate crisp, and the cook rightfully praised his personal creation of home-made tarter sauce. The garlic chip wedges were delicious fantastic, equal to or better than any others. The coleslaw was fresh with their home-made dressing blend of mayo, vinegar, and a secret ingredient. Amber's service was quite pleasant, and she mentioned how the calamari, which I am eager to try on my next visit, is her favorite. We each had a $4 very cold pint from their selection of draft beers. I have ordered fish and chips frequently for decades, including a one-week binge tour to sample F&C at numerous New York pubs, and this was way better. This will henceforth be a destination and worth a few minutes extra drive, as they are conveniently right off the 101

perfectly cooked fish and garlic fries were yummy and crisp and handmade coleslaw was very good, their prices are pretty fair, I mean where can you feed a family of four on 50.00 eating out with a 10 piece cod/garlic family meal! Great job and we will be back for more.
